Chimerical Herbs. A workshop on fantastic botany in the metropolitan mountain, led by Francesco Terzago

Introductory session and reading of texts by the poet Francesco Terzago regarding the third landscape and the conscious crossing of the metropolitan landscape, the restoration of our corporeality to geography.

The workshop, proposed in collaboration with the Poeticôni, is divided into 5 moments: 

1) What is a meadow? A moment to discuss the ecosystem's richness and the variety of living things that thrive (third landscape) in a place considered useless because it's unused (thus opposing a productive perspective).

2) Participants will catalog the plants—not a taxonomic exercise, but something that focuses on their sensitivity, the shapes that catch their eye, the flowers that spark their curiosity. I'll suggest taking photos with their cell phones, thus preventing them from picking leaves and flowers.

3) Recognizing the flora present on site – where possible I will provide more detailed information, including some examples of plants (if you would like to suggest a significant location for such an activity, I would be grateful if you could send me some photographs of the site – so that I can proceed with the identification of the herbs before the day of the workshop)

4) Writing activity: the cataloged plants are presented as a habitat for a fantastical creature. Some examples are taken from past workshops (primary and secondary school): a tree frog that lives among nettles and has stinging hairs on its skin. A dragon, the size of a sparrow, lives among the branches of an ornamental orange tree and whose eggs are identical to the fruit of this plant.
