Infinite exploration. Rediscovering the world with natural orientation

The mountains retain some of the natural environments least transformed by human infrastructure, but in the 21st century, their use has changed profoundly, becoming increasingly mediated by technologies that the traveler brings with them, such as GPS, web-connected cell phones, and now AI, which will soon replace human guides.

For many years, Franco Michieli, geographer, explorer, and writer, has dedicated himself to restoring a once-human relationship with the mountains and wild environments, undertaking long journeys on foot, seeking his way using only natural orientation, and interpreting the forms and events of nature.

Michieli will accompany participants on a hike through the Gesso and Stura River Park, introducing them to the art of natural orienteering, and will engage in conversation with Linda Cottino, a journalist, writer, and mountaineer who recently shared an exploratory journey with him.

The conversation will continue at the Casa del Fiume, to explore the almost revolutionary aspects of this approach.
