Mountain Echoes: Sounds, Voices, and Images of Valtellina
May 13 - 9:00 PM Cinema Monviso (Open map)
Multidisciplinary artist Yuval Avital and Francesco Moneta, president of the Culture+Business Committee, are the protagonists of the multimedia conversation "Mountain Echoes: Sounds, Voices, and Images of Valtellina." Avital and Moneta will share the experience of "Mountain Echoes," an exploration of Valtellina to explore its stories, values, characters, natural environments, animals, sites, and traditional and innovative production processes.
In the fall of 2025, Yuval Avital made his first trip to Valtellina, Lombardy's Olympic mountain, recording sounds and voices at 25 locations for a total of 34 hours, taking 603 photographs and videos, and involving over 500 people. The result is three polyphonic works, broadcast by three sound sculptures in the shape of anthropomorphic mountains, each 3 to 4 meters tall, and a multimedia exhibition. These were initially staged across Valtellina, between Sondrio, Bormio, and Tirano, and then brought together in Milan, at the Bagni Misteriosi of the Teatro Franco Parenti.
