Exhibition presentation: At the Edge of Oblivion. The Forts of the Maritime Alps
May 14 - 5:00 PM Hall of Honor of the Municipality of Cuneo (Open the map)
"At the Edge of Oblivion. The Forts of the Maritime Alps" is an artistic recollection by French photographer Michel Eisenlohr, created as part of the Interreg VI-A France-Italy ALCOTRA 2021-2027 cross-border project "Cognitio-Fort.".
The project, led by the Department of the Maritime Alps in partnership with the Mercantour National Park, the Maritime Alps Protected Areas Management Agency, and the Valle Stura Mountain Union, aims to enhance the Alpine fortified heritage.
The exhibition, which has a counterpart in Nice, explores the relationship between memory, oblivion, and borders, forming part of a research and development effort aimed at rediscovering and reinterpreting the historical traces that have marked the Alpine region.
As part of the Cognitio-Fort project, Michel Eisenlohr engages with places, highlighting often overlooked meanings of our collective experience. His contemporary language fosters new perspectives on understanding and cultural participation in a widespread, often forgotten, heritage.
After the presentation, the exhibition will be inaugurated, set up under the porticoes of Via Roma until July 5, 2026.
